Glass series QZ / GLASS

Glass Cutting Blade

Fine-grit diamond blades for glass, mirror and laminated glass — thin continuous rim, low rim height and a fine bond that cuts without chipping the edge.

Glass is cut by grinding, not by impact. The blade has to remove material a few microns at a time without generating heat, because heat is what cracks glass. That means a fine diamond grit, a very thin rim and a slow, wet, steady feed. Forcing the blade is the single most common cause of a failed cut. Hubei Qianzhao Diamond Tools Co., Ltd (Ezhou, Hubei) produces 100,000 blades and 3 million segments a year and exports to 14 countries.

02 Overview

What actually causes glass to chip or crack?

Two things: heat, and vibration. Heat comes from too much friction at the cut; vibration comes from a blade that is too thick, out of true, or run without coolant. Both are solved by the blade and the feed rate, not by pressing harder.

What you are cutting What to ask for
Float glass, 3–6 mm Fine grit continuous rim, thin core, full coolant flow
Thick or laminated glass Rigid core and slower feed — laminate needs a steady cut through two layers
Mirror Cut from the coated side down, fine grit, plenty of water to protect the backing
Cut-outs and curved work Small diameter with continuous rim — never a segmented rim on glass

A blade for glass is a grinding tool, not a saw. There are no gullets and no impact; the diamond grinds a narrow channel and the coolant carries the glass dust away. If the cut is dry, the dust packs into the rim and the blade starts to skate and then crack the panel.

03 Technical specifications

What are the technical specs of the glass blades?

Only what is fixed at series level is listed here. Grit, rim height and core thickness depend on the glass thickness and the machine — they are confirmed on your quotation.

Which diameter suits which glass job?

Small diameters suit cut-outs and repair work; larger diameters on a fixed machine give the straightest long cuts.

Diameter Inch Typical machine Typical job
100 mm4"Angle grinder with waterCut-outs, small panes, repair
115 mm4.5"Angle grinder with waterGeneral glass cutting
125 mm5"Angle grinder with waterThicker glass, short runs
150 mm6"Bench saw, wetStraight cuts on a fixed table
180 mm7"Bench saw, wetLonger straight cuts, laminated glass
250 mm10"Glass cutting machineProduction cutting, repeatable lengths

Grit, rim height and maximum rpm are set per diameter and confirmed on the quotation. Glass blades must run wet — never exceed the maximum rpm printed on the blade.

05 Applications

Which glass can these blades cut?

Built for glass and mirror on wet grinders and bench saws. Selection should account for the glass type, the thickness and whether the cut is straight or a cut-out.

A / 01

Float and annealed glass

The primary application. Fine grit, thin rim and full coolant keep the edge clean and stop the panel cracking from heat.

A / 02

Laminated glass

Two layers with an interlayer between them. A rigid core and a steady feed carry the blade through both without delaminating the edge.

A / 03

Mirror and coated glass

Cut with the coating face down where the machine allows, and keep water on the cut — the backing is what fails first if it overheats.

06 Customization

Can the logo and packaging be customized?

Logo

Laser-marked or printed logo on the core, matching the artwork you supply. On thin glass cores the mark area is limited — confirm with us before ordering.

Packaging

Skin packaging, colour boxes and neutral export cartons — including cartons with no branding for distributors.

Specification

Grit, rim height, bore and core thickness can be set for a specific glass type or machine, subject to a minimum order quantity per specification.

07 Manufacturing

What is Hubei Qianzhao's manufacturing capability?

Qianzhao has been making diamond tools in Ezhou, Hubei for seven years. The plant produces 100,000 blades and 3 million diamond segments a year, and exports to 14 countries.

Fine continuous rims are produced in-house. The diamond distribution at the edge is what decides whether the cut is clean or chipped — it cannot be corrected later by the operator.

08 FAQ

What should I confirm before ordering a glass blade?

Can I cut glass dry?

No. Dry cutting glass generates heat faster than the glass can dissipate it, and the panel cracks. Use coolant — a water feed on an angle grinder, or the flood coolant on a bench saw.

Why does the blade stop cutting and start skating?

The rim has loaded up with glass dust. Stop, clean the rim, increase the coolant flow and reduce the feed rate. Running a loaded blade is what causes cracks.

Can these blades cut tempered glass?

Tempered glass is already under internal stress and cannot be cut after tempering — it shatters. It has to be cut in the annealed state and then tempered. Tell us the process and we will advise on the blade.

What bore do the glass blades come with?

22.23 mm as standard. Other bores and reducing rings can be supplied to match your machine — state the arbor when you inquire.

What is the minimum order quantity?

10 pieces per size for stock specifications. Mixed sizes can be combined in one order.
